Stop lying... Your dog can smell it!
Niek UitenbosWe regularly catch ourselves and/or our partners doing it. A white lie. If you do this in front of your dog and your dog looks askance, don't be surprised anymore. Your dog smells that you told a lie! The Dutch organization KNGF has researched that dogs can smell when we tell a lie!
White lies
The Royal Dutch Guide Dog Fund, better known as KNGF, has started a study in the Netherlands into the behavior of dogs when the owner tells a white lie. The KNGF is a Dutch organization that trains dogs to assist people with disabilities. People appear to emit an odor when we tell a lie and the dog responds to this.
For the research, KNGF uses sniffer dogs that can already detect colon cancer from stool samples. During the research, subjects will tell truths and lies. During these actions, the test subjects hold a cotton pad. Afterwards, the sniffer dogs will play lie detector and sniff the cotton pad.
Now the question is whether we will soon be able to lie in front of the dogs!
