Leaving dogs alone when we have to leave for work is still heartbreaking. Waving your dog's sad face through the window and hugging him before leaving. A number of offices have now found a solution to this. Dogs in the office! For example, several dogs are present every day in the Belgian office of the chocolate bar manufacturer Mars. They create a relaxed atmosphere in the office, sometimes they even come along to meetings! Even though they often go to sleep there snoring.

Belgium is not the first country where dogs can be found in the workplace. It has been happening in the Netherlands for many years, but the forerunners of this tradition are the United States of America. At large companies such as the search giant Google or the online store Amazon, several dogs walk around the office corridors every day. If you think that dogs cause distraction and cause you to have little or no concentration on your work, nothing could be further from the truth. When the four-legged friends are present, employees often feel less stressed and their blood pressure and heart rate lower. This way, employees of offices with dogs often get more motivation to get more done. And of course the breaks are more fun times than just whining about the weather at the coffee machine. Plus, it's secretly also a very good excuse to get some fresh air, after all dogs need to be walked.
